NOT JUST A SHOP!

It is quite simple… if you love everything about the kitchen, then this is the place to be! The Kitchen Front is inspired initially by our mothers and grandmothers who had to make the most of what was available in the 1940’s and 1950’s. The original ‘Kitchen Front’ was a radio programme during WWII, where people could tune in to get recipes and make the most of the very austere rations with ingenious recipes.
The Kitchen Front is a very unique business, based in an Grade II Listed Building on the canal front in Bude. We do all the art work in here, as professional illustrators, we can create anything that you would like. No, really, we can!
In addition to selling things, we believe that people enjoy great experiences, like to learn new skills and crafts and look for something different when it comes to celebrating special events. Frequently people come on, only to see the whole shop has been moved around as we create new space for different activities like private parties and tea rooms.
Illustration and Bespoke Gifts of fabric and ceramic
All art work is designed here by me, Clair Roberts (BA Hons Creative Industries). It is influenced by what surrounds me on my Cornish coastline, The Ration Years, and artists post WWII. Simply gorgeous, original and hand crafted, nostalgic, ceramic and fabric gifts are displayed on original vintage furniture. The Kitchen Front is an art studio, where you can see us work. But, we are not ‘just a shop’! As a gift maker, we can make exactly what you would like, unique, personalised gifts for special occasions and special people in your life. Have something made exactly as you want. Please contact us Here
Private Parties and Hens
We don’t mind admitting that we have been getting rave reviews for our Celebration Parties. We do private parties from Children’s Birthdays to All The Gals From Work Creative Tea Parties to Grown Up Birthday and Hen Parties (with decorum darlings!). All parties include a creative session followed by afternoon tea and cake. There are several types of party to suit all budgets. We are happy to accommodate weekends and evenings. Have a look on the Parties and Hens Page
The idea of The Kitchen Front is to offer, not just hand crafted products for the kitchen and home but help you gain skills, knowledge and confidence through creative craft and design workshops. Everyone can do art! No, really, you can! We offer a range of workshops, from ceramic kitchenware design, to clay workshops, lino print onto fabric/ceramics and clock making. We look forward to meeting you and help you find your creative side. Did we mention that there is fabulous tea and home made cake at every workshop?! For more information click Here
1940s’ Events and Pop-Up Tea Rooms
The Kitchen Front is so more than ‘just a shop’. Come in and share my passion for the 1940’s with mini events, Hen Parties and pop up 1940’s Victory Tea Rooms. We have had art exhibitions, re-enactors, the Enigma Machine and musicians here. The ambience of this building is quite special and is a wonderful space for recreating nostalgic events. Our next really big event will be Bude at War – The Day the Americans Came on 17th, 18th 19th September 2021. Our alter-egos ‘The Donut Dollies’, will be at some of the big 1940s’ events. See you all soon.
